What is Microneedling?
You may have heard about Microneedling - one of our favorite skin resurfacing services. It’s not a new skincare trend and in fact, it’s been around since the 1930s as a skin treatment. Modern microneedling devices that use tiny needles to create microscopic channels in the skin have been used since 1995. Microneedling is a skin resurfacing and collagen induction therapy. It promotes skin healing and production of your OWN collagen - and as we have talked about before…collagen breakdown is usually the culprit when we see early signs of aging such as wrinkles and skin laxity. Microneedling “eliminates the risk of melanocytes heat injury and actually optimizes cells function, making it the ideal treatment for all skin types” (Setterfield, L., 2017, page 7). Microneedling is the “only rejuvenation treatment that maximizes penetration of medically approved essential cell nutrients, and maximizes release of growth factors associated with the positive aspects of wound healing simultaneously” (Setterfield, L., 2017, page 3).
The needles within the microneedling device activate your body’s natural repair mechanisms at the cellular level. Our medical aesthetic providers use a microneedling device called RejuvaPen, which is the most advanced FDA cleared microneedling device. As trained healthcare providers, we are able to penetrate the dermis at a depth of up to 2.5mm when needed.
Benefits of Medical-Grade Microneedling
Microneedling can improve skin tone and texture, reduce appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin laxity, decrease the appearance of acne scars and pigmentation issues, increase collagen production, and improve overall skin health. By increasing the rate of cellular turnover, most people notice a fresh dewy glow to their skin that was absent before.
Stem Cells & Exosomes
Stem Cells & Exosomes are a great addition to your MOBO® microneedling treatment. Even though Microneedling may be “old school”, the microneedling today uses technology that has come a long way from the early days. Our newest technology with Stem Cells and Exosomes are pushing the results of microneedling to the next level. Stem Cells and exosomes mimic and support natural cellular regeneration and repair. The use of stem cells or exosomes result in decreased downtime, even more improved tone and texture, reduced hyperpigmentation, and a greater improvement in wrinkle appearance!
At-home Microneedling?
At home microneedling will land you on the naughty-list this season. At-home microneedling devices are not FDA approved microneedling devices. When not used properly, at-home microneedling devices can induce bacteria into the skin. Medical microneedling creates much deeper channels than home-use products. This stimulates the deeper layers where skin cells are made - sending collagen, elastin and stimulating the healing process from deep within the skin.
